Province of Friesland

Friesland is very different from the rest of the Netherlands. Its inhabitants speak their own language, Frisian. Sailing is a very popular pastime on the many stretches of water in the centre of the province. Farmers in the north-west raise cattle, and there are woods and sand dunes in the south-east.
